(March 15, 2017)<\/strong> \u2013 Residents of Cherry Creek and metro Denver now have access to additional health services closer to home, with this week\u2019s opening of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-steele-street-medical-center-cherry-creek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCHealth Steele Street Medical Center<\/a> at 311 Steele St., Denver. The new location offers urgent care from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, providing patients access to UCHealth\u2019s full network of care including hospitals and advanced medicine. The medical center will begin offering primary care for young adults to seniors in late April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUCHealth is focused on helping people live extraordinary lives,\u201d said Lori Japp, physician assistant and UCHealth VP of urgent care. \u201cThe combination of primary care services and urgent care at one location provides convenient options for patients living in and near Cherry Creek, so they can get the quality care they need, when they need it. And for patients who need additional services, we can provide a seamless transition into UCHealth\u2019s broader network of nationally recognized experts and locations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UCHealth Steele Street Medical Center offers online reservations for convenience and to reduce wait times for patients, but no appointments are necessary to see an urgent care provider. Primary care services will be provided by expert physicians from UCHealth Medical Group for everything from preventive care and health maintenance to chronic condition management. Dr. James Wilk and Dr. Laura Popescu will be caring for patients at this location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to bring much-needed primary care services to this community,\u201d said Dr. James Wilk, UCHealth internal medicine physician. \u201cA long-term relationship with a primary care provider, close to home, is important to improve your overall health. Regular checkups can catch problems early before they become more serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA primary care physician is the key to a patient\u2019s health,\u201d said Dr. Laura Popescu, UCHealth internal medicine physician. \u201cWe help coordinate care with specialists as needed, keep an eye on all medications that a patient might be using, and recommend preventive care screenings, leading to a healthier life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With digital X-ray capabilities, the urgent care center provides care for a wide variety of illnesses and injuries including sprains, strains, or possible broken bones, headaches, sore throats and coughs, ear infections, fever and flu symptoms, minor infections and wounds, animal bites, rashes, urinary tract infections, and abdominal pain and vomiting.
